The European Union (EU) has agreed to create a mechanism called the Finnish E-TIDAS (European Temporary Immigration and Asylum System), which will be applicable to citizens of Honduras, starting on March 1st, 2020. This new system will replace the current “Safe Third Country” regime under which citizens of Honduras seeking asylum in Finland would be considered to have fled their home country in fear of persecution and be placed in an “expedite” status.
In summary, the new Finnish E-TIDAS system will:
- Grant refugee status and subsidiary protection to persons who meet the definition of a refugee under the 1951 Geneva Convention or its 1967 protocol
- Grant temporary residence permits for humanitarian reasons or for purposes of study
- Grant visa-free travel for family members of persons granted refugee or subsidiary protection status
- Resolve applications for temporary residence in Finland through a faster processing procedure.
Applying For Finland ETIAS From Honduras
If you are a citizen of Honduras and want to apply for an ESTIAS visa to travel to Finland, the process is fairly straightforward. First, you will need to present your valid passport and a valid ticket to Finland. You will also need to provide documentary evidence of your citizenship (e.g., a birth certificate, passport photo, etc.) and of your relationship to a citizen of Finland (e.g., marriage certificate, family tree). Finally, you will need to submit an application form to the Finnish embassy in Honduras.
There is no fee associated with applying for an ESTIAS visa, but there is a processing fee that must be paid in order to obtain a visa. This fee varies depending on the type of visa you are applying for (e.g., single-entry or multiple-entry), but it is generally around €60/$70. Once all of the required documents have been submitted, the Finnish embassy will review your application and may request additional documentation or clarification. If all of the documentation is satisfactory, the Finnish embassy may issue you a visa within two weeks.
Reasons You Should Get An Finland ETIAS
Finland has an ETIAS for citizens of Honduras. This allows for easier travel to and from Finland for these citizens. It also gives these citizens the ability to stay in Finland for a period of up to 90 days without a visa. This is great for those who are traveling to see family or friends, and want to avoid needing a visa beforehand.
Things To Consider Before Coming To Finland
Before coming to Finland, make sure you have the correct travel documents.
You will need a valid passport with at least six months remaining before your planned departure date.
If you are not a resident of Honduras, you will need a visa.
Finland has an ETIAS agreement with Costa Rica, so if you are travelling to either country and have a valid passport from one of the two countries, you can enter without a visa.
If you are travelling to Finland as part of an organised trip, make sure the group is aware of your travel plans and have a copy of your passport and visa page stamped at the airport.
